I work at the intersection of Open Science policy, Diamond Open Access, and responsible research assessment, mostly across European research infrastructure and the social sciences and humanities.

Based in Athens, Greece. I work in both Greek and English, and my writing tends toward the practical: policy briefs, training material, and the connective tissue that helps open infrastructure actually get used.

Academic libraries as
Open Science infrastructures.

My PhD examines the role, responsibilities and future direction of the academic library as infrastructure for Open Science across the European Union.

Libraries have long supported Open Access and research data management. Their part in wider Open Science practice, research assessment reform and research culture change is far less explored. The thesis, Academic Libraries as Infrastructures: exploring the shifting roles of libraries in the current developments of Open Science, sits within Archival, Library and Information Studies at the University of West Attica.

It asks three questions: how Open Science maturity varies across EU regions; how libraries can evolve to foster an Open Science research culture; and what this means for funding, sustainability and the skills librarians need. The aim is a theoretical framework and a practical roadmap for sustaining library Open Science services beyond Open Access and data management.

Background

Before the PhD, my 2021 MSc dissertation examined Plan S and scholarly communication in a UK context, drawing on qualitative interviews and covering the Rights Retention Strategy, transformative agreements, and DORA.
